#10 Derbyshire World Toe Wrestling Championships / Prize Money: $0

The World Toe Wrestling Championship is an annual sport that has been going on since the 1970s. The feet verison of arm wrestling has been gaining recognition as new participants have enrolled in each year.

The game includes 20 participants where a duel of three rounds will occur between two opponents. It is played with bare feet which involves contestants to lock each other's toes and put pressure to pin their opponent’s feet for three seconds while avoiding the same in return. The winner of two rounds out of three gets the victory.

There is no prize money offered to the winner as the money is donated to “Wish Upon a Star” organization who arrange holidays for sick children.

#9 Knaresborough Bed Race / Prize Money: $0

The Great Knaresborough Bed Race started back in 1966. It is a fancy dress parade that is held in the medieval streets of Knaresborough in the United Kingdom.

There are ninety teams of six runners and a passenger who are judged as the event’s best dressed beds on the basis of their costumes which vary from hospital personnels to Greek gods and the parade is the basis for choosing the most entertaining teams.

The game also involves an exhausting time trial which includes a 2.4-mile difficult course of steep terrains, grassy banks, and even a river crossing. The contestants do all the hard work for only free kegs of beer as the money raised in the event is donated to various charities

#8 To Hells Gate on a Wheelbarrow / Prize Money: $450

To Hell’s Gate on a Wheelbarrow is a race that is held in Kenya by the park administrators of the Hell’s Gate National Park. The event occurs in the African nation every June.

The contestants of the race are divided into pairs which involves pushing a teammate in a wheelbarrow over a 5-kilometer course. The primary goal of the race is to raise funds for the construction of a Conservation Education Centre in Hell’s Gate National Park.

#7 The Muggle Quidditch World Championships / Prize Money: $500

If you have seen the ridiculous sport played by Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughan in 'The Intern' movie, you will be shocked to know that this sport actually exists in the real world. The quidditch game involves seven players-3 chasers, 2 beaters, a keeper, and a seeker, who play on a field space which resembles the size of a hockey rink.

The players have to remain mounted on a broom for the entirety of the game. Muggle Quidditch has steadily grown popular among sports fans even after it originated in US colleges.

#6 Wife Carrying World Championships / Prize Money: at least $525

Wife Carrying is another surprising sport which is played in the Global arena. The Wife Carrying World Championship is held in Sonkajarvi, Finland where teams from Australia, Germany, Great Britain, Estonia, Ireland, and the United States come together and comepte for world supremacy.

According to regulations, any adult can carry another adult in the competition inspite of what the name suggests.The prize money for winning the event is $5 per pound of the carried person, the minimum amount being $525.

#5 Man vs Horse Marathon / Prize Money: $1,600

This sport originated in 1979 when pub owner Gordon Green debated with local Glyn Hones about who would win in a race between a man and a horse. The annual Man vs. Horse Marathon was competed the very next year when 50 runners and 15 horses competed in a 22-mile race in Welsh Town, Wales.

Since then there have been two humans who have reigned over horses. A cash money of $1,600 is given to the human winners.

#4 Quilton Australian Dunny Derby / Prize Money: $3,000

In Australia, Dunny means toilet. But every September, the Outback Festival utilises the dunny as a means of transport in the annual Quilton Australian Dunny Derby.

Each team comprises of 5 members where 4 of them act as lifters and one of them sits in the dunny. The teams wear costumes and compete against each other by racing with a decorated dunny.

Australians have been credited for inventing another weird sport which is known as Tuna Toss. According to everyone's standards, the sport involves people to throw a 20-lb fish with a rope and handle attached to it.

The person to win the tournament was not a broad shouldered strong guy, but rather an unlikely thin John Penny. It was later discovered that he was a hammer thrower who had trained for the Olympics.

#2 Nathans Hotdog Eating Contest / Prize Money: $20,000

Ameicans are stereotyped as people who engage themselves in weird and crazy stuff. And Nathan’s Hotdog Eating Contest serves as one of the prime examples for that matter. It is an annual competition held every 4th of July at the original Nathan’s branch in Brooklyn, New York since 1972.

The competition will require contestants to eat as many hotdogs and buns within a given time. Joel Chestnut holds the record for eating 69 hotdog sandwiches in 10 minutes.

ISTAF’s Sepak Takraw is a popular sport in South Asia. The game involves two or three players who play a modified version of volleyball, but without the use of their hands. They are only allowed to use their feet, knees, chest, and head to touch the ball.

The International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) has been conducting major competitions for the sport with more than a hundred countries sending teams to the events.
