US Open: A Turnaround

This US Open almost like all the tennis this year has been a shocker. Almost all expert predictions have gone wrong.

Murray, Roddick, Fish, Ishner, Nalbandian,Berdych, Gasquet on men’s and Dementieva, Wickmayer,Azarenka and some others from the women’s circuit have left. Nadal hitting a 134 Mph serve and Roger struggling against Melzer are again very very unexpected.

Nobody can deny the impact of the unbearable hot conditions, the very heavy balls and of late the overpowering wind. And you can pretty much guess why the Spanish have reigned on a FAST surface. It’s a shame that almost all this time physical ability and not quite skill has become the deciding factor. And so I reckon Rafa as an easy favourite for his first US Open (I am a Rafa fan :)). I can just hope the wind stops and the heat lessens from now on making it comfortable for the players and enjoyable for the fans.
