The best sporting week of the year at VJTI starts from the 10th of January this year, going on till the 18th. After the recently concluded and highly successful intra college event, the opening lived up to its expectations. Starting with the national anthem, we were graced by speeches from the dignitaries present, which included the dean of student activities among others. The head of the civil department even had a song to share with the audience, highlighting enthusia’s success over past years. This was followed by a display of football skills, while the sponsors did their part by distributing Mother Dairy’s lassi to the entire audience.
All this served as a big boost for VJTI’s basketball team, as they then registered a comfortable win in their first match of this year’s Enthusia. The match served as a perfect curtain raiser for the kind of quality we can expect from the home teams this coming week. The crowd too played their part with a lot of the famous bhopus being played all over, and immense support for all the VJTI players. They were kept busy during the breaks too, by free throw competitions held by the committee with official Enthusia’13 t-shirts up for grabs. We do expect a lot more competitions like these to be held over the course of the tournament, but more importantly, one of the biggest sports festivals in Mumbai is back with a bang. A lot of nail biting finishes, tight matches, game winning performances and exhilirating crowds are sure to come our way. So just sit back and enjoy Enthusia’13!
