India won 9 of the 10 titles at stake in the 4th Indian Junior Open Squash Championship held at the Indian Squash Academy, Chennai. Although the under 19 results went as per seeding with Anaka and Kush winning the titles, there were 4 upsets.
In the Boys Under 17, Vijay Kumar from Tamil Nadu defeated top seed Yuen Tsun Hei from Hong Kong with a clinical display of drives and drops. Although Vijay lost the 3rd game, he was always in control and won his first tournament title.
In the Boys under 15, Velavan Senthilkumar from Tamil Nadu up staged Ranjit Singh from UP also to claim his first International title.
In the Girls Under 17, Harshit Kaul Jawanda from Delhi needed 5 games to defeat top seeded Lakshya Ragavendran in a fiery battle. Harshit was the one who looked calm though out the match which gave her the edge in the decider.
In the Girls under 11, S Samita from Tamil fought back after losing the first 2 games to defeat Megha Bhatia from Delhi in the 5th game.
