Leading Indian player Harinder Pal Sandhu, in keeping with his fighting qualities, took Taipei’s James Huang to five games before emerging winner and earn a semi-final berth in the $10,000 Christchurch International squash 2015, a PSA world tour event, in New Zealand on Friday.
The third seeded Indian, the current Indian national champion was tested to the hilt by sixth seed Taipei player and the 73-minute tussle proved a non-stop action till the final moments.
Harinder won 14-12, 7-11, 11-6, 9-11, 11-9 and will face off against top seed Raphael Kandra of Germany in the last four.
Harinder had earlier defeated qualifier Evan Williams of New Zealand in straight games 11-9, 12-10, 11-8 in the pre-quarterfinal.
