The third day of the 4th Indian Junior Open Squash Championship being held at the Indian Squash Academy, Chennai witnessed a series of upsets.
In the Boys under 19, Rishi Tandon from Tamil Nadu defeated Ma Tsz Hei from Hong Kong in a enthralling 5 games. Losing the first game tamely Rishi fought back to level the match with a lot of running to all corners of the courts. Ma Tsz Hei once again took charge winning the 3rd game.
Rishi used his supreme skill to win the 4th game convincingly and clawed his way from 3-7 in the 5th game to win the match 6-11, 13-11, 4-11, 11-2 &11-8. Shashi Pandey, ranked 5/8, from Jindal Squash Academy in Maharashtra, defeated 3/4 seed Deepak Mishra 11-7, 14-12, 11-3. Except for the 2ndgame, Deepak seemed not to have an answer to Shashi’s aggressive play.

In the Boys under 15, unseeded Krish Kapur from West Bengal defeated 9/16 Vikas Mehra from Tamil Nadu to enter his first semi final in the major squash event.
In the Girls under 15, 5/8 seed Ashita Pranay Bhengra from Tamil Nadu fought her way from down 1 game to 2, to win a very tense encounter against Jui Kalgutkar seeded 3/4 from Maharashtra.
In the Boys under 13, Rahil Peris seeded 9/16 from Goa defeated Shankaran Partiban from Tamil Nadu in straight games. In the Girls Under 13, Akansha Rao from Maharashtra defeated her state mate Diya Joukani in other 5 set encounter.
Top seeds in the under 19 category Kush Kumar and Anaka Alankamony won the matches convincingly.
