Results of Indian players on Day 1 of the World Junior Squash Championships

Velavan Senthilkumar is through to the third round

It was a disappointing day for Indian juniors on the first day of the World Junior Squash Championships in Eindhoven.

Seven Indian players had made it into the second round with relative ease, but couldn’t carry on their momentum later in the evening.

Velevan Senthilkumar and Harshit Kaur Jawanda are the only two Indians remaining in the tournament in singles category.

Sunayna Kuruvilla beat Victoria Leow (Aus) 12-10, 13-11, 7-11, 11-4;

Jui Kalgutkar beat Kato Verwilt (Belgium) 11-3, 11-3, 11-1;

Nikita Joshi beat Annika Engstrom (Sweden) 11-9, 11-3, 11-4;

Akanksha Salunkhe beat Kuzivakwashe Madungwe (Zimbabwe) 11-0, 11-0, 11-0.
