Sub Junior & Junior National Squash Championship - A day of upsets and outstanding play

Sub Junior & Junior National Squash Championship held at the Daly College, Indore witnessed a day of upsets and outstanding game. The first upset happened in girls U-13 where a Tamil Nadu girl, Jeffrey Bianca seeded 3Ž4 beat top seed Navmi Sharma from Maharashtra 6-11, 11-4, 11-9 and 13-11.

In the same category Amita Gondi from Andhra Pradesh beat second seed Samita Shiva Kumar in a five setter match. In girls U-15, 5/8 seed Nikita Joshi from Maharashtra beat second seed Ashita Bhengra, 11-8, 11-5, 9-11, 10-12, and 11-6. In girls U-17 5/8 seed Adya Advani from Delhi upset the top seed Aishwarya Bhatacharya from Maharashtra. Tamil Nadu girl, Mayuri Namashivayam beat thesecond seed Juhi Kalgutkar to reach the finals of girls U-17 for the first time. Girls U-19, Harshit Jawanda from Delhi beat the top seed Urvashi Joshi in a closely fought five games. There were no upsets in Boys U-11, U-13, U-15 categories.

Most of the semi-final matches were close and keenly contested.
