Vikas Mehra hogs the limelight at Indian Junior Open Squash Championship

Indian squash Academy trainee Vikas Mehra hogged the limelight ousting higher seeded Yash Bhargava of Delhi 10-12 12-10 11-7 11-7, while the Indian boys and girls have lived up to the expectations of progressing to the quarterfinal stage of the 4th Indian Junior Open Squash Championship here today.

Being down 10-12 in the first game, Vikas Mehra, a 9-to 16th seed displayed total control in his game and his decision to be aggressive most often throughout the match helped him down a fighting Yash Bhargava, who is seeded 5 to 8. Notable highlight of the match was in the second game where despite enjoying slender lead, Yash came up with some winners but Vikas was more determined to wait for his chances. Vikas’s exhibited great abilities in his court coverage to come out with flying colours.

Top seeded Kush Kumar and Deepak Mishra (Boy’s under-19) and Ashita Bhengra, Sharmika Reddy and Neharika Balamurugan in under 15 girls section.
