US-based Mumbai player Vikram Malhotra shocked the second seed Nathan Lake of England and made it to the semi-final of the Samson Seattle Open, a PSA world tour event being held in Seattle. The Indian won 7-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-5.
The plucky Vikram had won a tournament (Florida Open) in December last, coming in as a qualifier. Unseeded here, the Indian has been doing well. He had upset sixth seed player Leandro Romiglio of Argentina 11-8, 11-2, 11-9 in the first round.
The lanky player next meets seventh seed Matias Tuomi of Finland in the last four.
