World Squash Day at ISA, Chennai

The carnival atmosphere at the Indian Squash Academy celebrating the World Squash Day was a sight to behold. More than 60 children, parents and officials participated in this gala event.

Five different types of games were organized. Racketball and Badminton on a squash court were amongst it.

Players of the academy were divided into 2 teams – The Red Devils and The All Blacks. After a hectic morning that started at 7.30 am, the Red Devils emerged as winners at nearly 1.00 pm. Prizes were presented by the Indian cricket legend Krishnamachari Srikanth, who in his address expressed surprise as to why squash was still not included in the Olympics. He said the large number of participating countries around the world is testimony to the popularity of Squash. His parting shot was “I back the Olympic bid for Squash”. After the event all participants were treated to a sumptuous banana leaf South Indian meal.

“What a wonderful day we had,” echoed many of the young participants.
