As part of the World Squash Federation Coach Education Programme (CEP) which aims to standardize coaching methods world-wide, a WSF certified level one coaching course is to be held at the Indian Squash Academy from May 13 to 16. This is the first time that a WSF course is being held in India.
This exercise under the auspices of the Squash Rackets Federation of India, seeks to bring up the 90 odd squash coaches in India to the WSF certified level. The course is to be conducted by Maj (retd) S. Maniam, Director of Development/ coaching, WSF and Consultant Coach of the SRFI.
Prior to the main course there will be for two days from May 11 a Tutors refreshers course followed by another refresher course for the various existing coaches.
The significance of this CEP is to ensure that courses delivered by nations in conjunction with respective regions bring about uniform standards and the certification become recognized world wide. The effort is also to expand the coaches panel to bring about development of the sport through improved quality of training. In effect the whole exercise aims to provide squash a robust, modern and uniform coaching system the world over.
