The curse started in 1919 when the Red Sox made the terrible decision of selling the legend ‘Babe Ruth’ to the New York Yankees.
Before the so-called ‘curse’ was inflicted on the team, they had won 5 of the 15 World Series titles in the MLB.
But since then, the curse of the Bambino had plagued the team and they didn’t win a single World Series in the next 86 years.
After giving away Babe Ruth it was as if the Red Sox fortune went to the Yankees. The New Yankees went on to win four World Series.
Since then for the next 84 seasons, the Red Sox only made it into the World Series 4 times and lost each one of them.
The curse was finally broken in 2004, when Red Sox went against St. Louis Cardinals and finally won the World Series title.
With the help of Mark Bellhorn who hit a game-winning home run, Ace pitcher Curt Schilling and the superb performance of Derek Lowe and Manny Ramirez.
The team finally broke the curse and went on to win the 2013 and 2018 World Series title.
