Due to Garoppolo's concussion, the Raiders are planning to start rookie QB Aidan O'Connell in their Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, as reported by NFL Media.
Selected as the 135th overall pick in the April draft, O'Connell hasn't played in a regular-season game yet. He played admirably in the preseason, topping the Raiders with 482 passing yards & 3 TDs.
At Purdue, O'Connell served as the starting QB for the past two seasons. In that time, he recorded 50 TDs, 14 INTs, and a completion rate of 67.7%.
In the 2021 season, O'Connell's impressive performance featured a 535-yard, five-touchdown game during Purdue's 48-45 victory over Tennessee in the Music City Bowl.
O'Connell will assume control of a struggling Raiders offense ranked 29th in NFL scoring after 3 games. Their ground game ranks last, with no rushing TDs this season.
Adams remains a standout for the Raiders, scoring 13 receptions, 172 yards, & 2 TDs in their Week 3 loss to Pit. He is just 41 yards away from reaching 10,000 career receiving yards.
