WHERE DOES PFF RANK RYAN KELLY AMONG NFL CENTERS?

Despite being a Pro Bowl selection from 2019-2021, Colts center Kelly didn't make the cut last season. PFF's 2023 rankings place him as the 16th best center due to a disappointing 2022 performance.

"It’s been 3 years since Kelly earned a PFF grade above 70.0, but he’s still good enough to rank among the top half of centers in the league.

Kelly's Pro Bowl nod in 2021 may have been due to name recognition after back to back selections the 2-years prior. His PFF grade of 56.9 in 2021 was his lowest, compared to at least 69.0 in 4 of the previous 5 seasons.

It is unlikely that Nelson & Kelly suddenly became average OL. With a better QB & the arrival of Richardson, along with the play-calling of HC Steichen, the Colts O-line can return to being a strength of the team.

Ryan Kelly and Quenton Nelson are anticipated to regain their previous form, while second-year left tackle Bernhard Raimann continues to develop.

Despite the potential cost savings, the Colts are committed to retaining Kelly. With a complete reset at QB and coaching, they expect his ranking to improve and return to the top tier by season's end.
