Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will begin their quest for India's maiden badminton gold at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Saturday, July 27. The World No. 3 duo are up against home favorites Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar in their first match and are expected to walk away with an easy straight-game win.
The men's doubles draw at the Games created a bit of controversy when the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the last-minute addition of Corvee and Labar.
The Frenchmen were eventually placed in Group C alongside Rankireddy and Shetty, as well as Indonesia's World No. 6 duo Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto, and Germans Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will take on the host nation's World No. 40 at (or after) 8 pm on Saturday, July 27. This will mark the two pairs’ third encounter on the BWF circuit and will give the Indians an important opportunity to get to know the environment of La Chapelle Arena.
