Filipino Carlos Yulo is basking in the glory of becoming only the second athlete from his country to win an Olympic gold medal while also reaping rich rewards from the many gifts coming his way.

The star gymnast who won both the men's floor event and the men's vault event stands to gain from a range of prizes and benefits from the government, including a fully-furnished two-bedroom condo and over 13 million pesos in cash.

Interestingly, Yulo will also receive a lifetime of free ramen, free buffets, and free meals in return for making his country proud at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Carlos Yulo scripted history for the Philippines by securing his first gold medal in the men's floor event with a score of 15.000. He added another in the men's vault event having scored 15.116.

The first male athlete to win an Olympic gold for the Philippines was soon showered with lots of love and a flurry of offerings from the government, sponsors and local restaurants.

The 24-year-old will be the proud owner of a house gifted by the Philippine government while also having the option to move into a two-bedroom condominium valued at 24 million pesos.

Yulo will be richer by 10 million pesos thanks to a cash prize from the Philippine Sports Commission while also benefitting from a 3-million-peso cash prize from the House of Representatives.

The Olympian will also never be short of good food with a lifetime supply of free ramen and free meals. Free colonoscopy and gastroscopy consultations once he turns 45 are also at the disposal of the star athlete.

Weightlifter Hidilyn Dias was the first-ever athlete to have won a gold medal for the Philippines at an Olympic competition when she finished atop the podium in the women's 55kg event at Tokyo 2021.

Carlos Yulo's twin gold medal haul at the 2024 Paris Olympics threatened to be overshadowed by an alleged disagreement with his mother with regard to the handling of his finances.

Yulo, who has had a troubled history with his mother, both with regard to finances and her reported dislike for his Australian girlfriend took to TikTok to question her regarding his past prize money.

He stated in the TikTok video that his mother made withdrawals from his bank account without his approval. Yulo's mother subsequently sought to douse the flames by declaring at a press conference that her disagreement with her son was a private matter and that she had kept her son's money safe.

"This has reached an alarming level because now, the entire country is waiting for what each of us will say next when this matter should have been kept private," she was quoted as saying by BBC.

The Philippines has won a total of four medals at Paris 2024, including two bronze medals in addition to the gold medals won by Yulo.
