Indian athletes gathered in spirit on June 23 to celebrate Olympic Day, marking the occasion with enthusiasm and pride ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024. Prominent figures from various sports took to social media to commemorate the day.

Indian paddlers Sharath Kamal and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, badminton stars Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy, and PV Sindhu, hockey team’s goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, former Olympic medalists Abhinav Bindra and Vijender Singh were among the few athletes who celebrated the occasion.


Indian athletes celebrate Olympic Day

Veteran paddler and Commonwealth Games gold medalist Sharath Kamal, who is set to make his fifth Olympic appearance in Paris, expressed his warm greetings and excitement for Olympic Day.

Joining him was fellow paddler Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, a Tokyo 2020 participant and reserve player for Paris. Sathiyan shared his pride in representing India and his readiness for the forthcoming challenge.

Shuttlers PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, and HS Prannoy made their way into the Paris Olympics by virtue of their rankings. Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, aims for a hat-trick in Paris. She posted her medal-winning moments from previous Olympics.

Debutants Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy highlighted their Olympic dreams and their determination to excel in Paris.

PR Sreejesh, the stalwart goalkeeper of India's bronze medal-winning hockey team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, shared his excitement on social media. He looks forward to defending the net once again in Paris.

Abhinav Bindra, India’s first-ever individual gold medalist, discussed the “Let’s Move” campaign in Assam and Odisha, aiming to promote physical activity and Olympic values.

Vijender Singh, India's first Olympic medalist in boxing, also posted a picture wishing Olympic Day.

The Paris Olympics 2024 is slated to commence on July 26 until August 11. The Indian contingent, who had their best-ever outing in Tokyo 2020, will aim to do better this time.
