Abhishek Verma is an Indian sport shooter, who is currently ranked No.1 in the 10m Air Pistol category. He contested at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and was in contention to advance to the men's 10m air pistol event finals.
He orchestrated an excellent rally, but two eights in the final series scrambled his hopes to make the cut for finals. Eventually, he finished 17th with 575 at the Akasa Range.
Abhishek Verma made a strong start with a score of 94 but encountered a few setbacks before regaining momentum and climbing the leaderboard. Regrettably, his improvement was halted by two scores of eight and two of nines in the final series of the event.
Notably, each shooter fires six series of 10 shots, with the top eight qualifying for the finals based on their cumulative scores. However, the 34-year-old shooter wasn't at his absolute best to make it to the finals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Abhishek Verma secured his spot at The Tokyo Olympics after clinching gold in the men’s air pistol event at the 2019 ISSF World Cup in Beijing. The shooter, hailing from Haryana, delivered a commanding performance in the 10m air pistol final and won with a 2.3-point margin over Russia's Artem Chernousov.
Notably, he qualified as fourth with the second-highest score of 585 out of 600 in a competition, consisting of 97 shooters.
Previously, he clinched a bronze medal in the men's 10-meter air pistol at Jakarta Palembang in 2018. In the same year, he reached the World Championship final but finished eighth place with a score of 583. In addition, he won a gold medal at the Asian Championships in Doha in 2019 in the 10m air pistol mixed team event after finishing with a score of 387.
