India's leading female professional golfer, Aditi Ashok made her Olympics debut at the Rio Games in 2016, finishing 41st. But it was in Tokyo that she delivered an outstanding performance, staying in medal contention until the 17th hole before narrowly missing out, and finishing fourth.
Aditi's performance caught the eye of many in the country, who followed the proceedings until the last hole on the second day. She had finished day one in the second spot but dropped to fourth by the end of the event. Nevertheless, her impressive outing was commendable.

Aditi carded 3-under 68 and finished with a combined score of 15-under, finishing two shots behind the gold medal place and one off the bronze. Her fourth-placed finish was India's best in the sport in Olympics history.
She began the second day with pars on the first four holes, getting to a score of 12-under. She followed it with her first birdie on the par-5 fifth. She got another birdie on the sixth to get to 14-under before making par on the seventh hole.
Aditi then made birdies on the eighth hole to go joint top at 15-under but dropped to the third spot with a bogey on the ninth at 14-under. She shot a bogie on the 11th while before making par on the 12th and a birdie on the 13th hole.
Subsequently, she secured a birdie on the 14th, par on the 15th hole, and got to 15-under after the 16th hole. Aditi then missed a birdie on the 17th but secured a par to remain at 15-under.
The golfer then missed the birdie on the 18th hole to finish in fourth place.
