Apurvi Singh Chandela is an Indian shooter, who specializes in the 10-metre air rifle event. She made her second Olympic appearance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics but failed to advance to the final of the women’s 10m air rifle.

Chandela registered a score of 621.9 but could only manage to secure the 36th position in the qualification round, where only the top eight made a cut for the final.

Taking part in the event held at the Asaka Shooting Range Chandela, Apurvi Singh Chandela struggled with her lackluster performance. She could accumulate only below-par scores in the second (102.5), fifth (102.2), and sixth (103.6) series.


Apurvi Singh Chandela's career in brief

Hailing from Rajasthan, Apurvi Singh Chandela achieved significant milestones throughout her shooting career. She clinched a gold medal in the 10-meter air rifle event at the National Shooting Championships in 2012.

At the 2014 InterShoot Championships in The Hague, she secured four medals, including two individual and two team medals. In the same year, she secured a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after accumulating a score of 206.7 in the final.

In 2015, Apurvi made her mark at the ISSF World Cup in Changwon and won a bronze medal, which helped her to secure a spot at the 2016 Rio Olympics. However, she failed to make it to the final after finishing 34th in the qualification round.

However, she put her Olympic performance in the past and continued to shine by breaking the world record with a score of 211.2 at the 2016 Swedish Cup Grand Prix.

She alongside Ravi Kumar won a bronze medal in the 10-meter air rifle mixed team event at the 2018 Asian Games. She won another bronze at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She later set a world record of 252.9 points at the 2019 ISSF World Cup in New Delhi, winning the gold medal in the women's 10-meter air rifle event.
