Ashish Kumar Chaudhary is an Indian amateur boxer who contests in the middleweight category. He represented India at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in this category.
His campaign in Tokyo concluded after suffering a defeat against Erbieke Tuoheta of China in the 75kg round of 32 match. Ashish, an Asian Championship silver medalist, lost the bout following a unanimous verdict in the contest held at the Ryogoku Kokugikan arena.
The bout kicked off with both boxers embracing aggressive stances as they landed some punches quickly. The Indian boxer got off to a strong start but he failed to maintain his dominance.
Notably, Ashish failed to withstand the relentless body shots from his Chinese opponent, which resulted in him losing the opening round.
Ashish Kumar Chaudhary staged a much-needed comeback in the second round utilizing his left jabs to gain ground. He also pinned his opponent against the ropes three times.
However, the Chinese boxer’s agility and well-timed combinations gradually put the bout in his favor. Notably, Tuoheta landed timely punches and one wounded the Indian boxer under the left eye.
The 29-year-old Indian intensified his attack with a determination to leave an impression in the final round. Despite unleashing a barrage of punches to catch the judges' attention, his efforts came too late.
Ultimately, Tuoheta's stunning performance in the first two rounds helped him to secure a decisive 5:0 victory against the Indian boxer.

The 30-year-old has clinched a silver medal at the 2019 Asian Championships and a gold medal at the 2019 Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament held in Bangkok.
In addition to these, he also secured a bronze medal at the 2020 Asia/Oceania Olympics Qualifier.
