Manish Kaushik is an Indian boxer who competes in the lightweight division. He represented India at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, marking his debut in the Summer Games. Unfortunately, he had a disappointing campaign as he crashed out from the tournament early after suffering a defeat against Luke McCormack of Great Britain in the round of 32 men's lightweight (57-63 kg) category event.
Manish Kaushik displayed remarkable determination. However, he lost to McCormack in the battle in the final three minutes when his opponent opted for a counter-attack strategy, which resulted in a 4-1 outcome after three rounds at the Kokugikan Arena.
McCormack managed to win Round 1 after taking a lead as three out of five judges provided scores in his favor while the other two scored in favor of Kaushik with the Briton managing to win the round 3-2. Meanwhile, in the following round, the Indian emerged victorious with the judges' score favoring him 3-2.
As the scoreline leveled, the final round had decided the winner of the clash. Unfortunately, it ended in favor of the Briton with all five judges giving him the points.
