Vishnu Saravanan was one of three Indian men's sailors who participated at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Making his debut at the Summer Games, Saravanan saw his campaign come to an end without reaching the medal round.
He finished 20th overall in the men’s laser standard event. Notably, only the top 10 competitors qualify for the medal round.
Competing at the Enoshima Yacht Harbour, Saravanan achieved his personal best finish of the Tokyo Olympics, ending in third place in the ninth qualifying race of the men’s laser standard.
Nevertheless, the 25-year-old finished his 10th and final qualifying race in 15th position. Ultimately, his campaign ended when he was in 20th place overall, having earned 156 net points. Meanwhile, Matt Wearn of Australia topped the qualifying races in the men’s laser category with 49 net points.
