India vs Argentina ends in thriller 1-1 draw in Paris 2024 Olympics after Harmanpreet Singh’s heroics

For the second consecutive match in the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Indian men’s hockey team left it to the end to avoid their first loss at the Olympic Games. After a last-minute penalty goal from Harmanpreet secured a win against New Zealand, India had to rely on the captain again to avoid losing points against Argentina.

After both teams failed to convert a few penalty corners in the first two quarters, Argentina finally took the lead after Lucas Martinez scored from the open field in the 22nd minute. Argentina had the chance to bury the game in the 37th minute, but Casella Schuth missed a penalty stroke.

India trailed the match till the 58th minute, and when it looked like the Men in Blue were heading towards their first defeat of the tournament, India got a penalty corner, which captain Harmanpreet converted in style.

With the draw against Argentina, India will be able to breathe a little bit easier as it faces an out-of-form Ireland team in their next Pool B match on Tuesday, July 30.
