On Tuesday, July 9, India celebrated the spirit and determination of its para-athletes as it marked a milestone with just 50 days left until the start of the Paris Paralympics.
The event, held in New Delhi, was graced by many esteemed guests, dignitaries, and athletes who shared their excitement ahead of the upcoming Paralympic Games.
According to a report published in the ANI, guests were warmly welcomed at the event in the evening. The guests included Ambassador of France to India, Thiery Mathou; Secretary General of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) Jayawant Hammanwar; Vice President of PCI; Lt. General Rakesh Kapoor; Owner of Sharchi Group Rakesh Tod; and DGM Sports at Indian Oil and Commonwealth Medalist Manjusha Kanwar.
Athletes Ashok, a para powerlifter, and Mona Aggarwal, a para shooter, were also present at the event, emphasizing their focus and readiness ahead of the Paralympics event, scheduled to start on August 28.

Ashok, a para powerlifter, is confident of bringing glory to India and aiming to achieve his personal best in Paris with the help of his coaches and the nation behind him.
"I am focused and determined to bring glory to India. With the support of my coaches and the nation behind me, I aim to achieve my personal best in Paris,” Ashok stated.
Talented para shooter Mona Aggarwal is grateful for the opportunity to represent India on the biggest stage, emphasizing its significance.
"Competing at the Paralympics is a dream come true. I am grateful for the opportunity and ready to give my best performance,” she said.
Women’s 200m para-athlete and gold medalist at the World Para Athletics Championships in Kobe, Japan, Simran Sharma marked her presence at the event alongside women’s 100m para-athlete Preethi Pal, who clinched two bronze medals at the same event.
While Simran talked about her journey and preparation for the forthcoming Paralympics, Preethi Pal talked about her motivation to contribute to India’s medal tally in Paris.
With the countdown for the Paris Paralympics already started, Indian para-athletes are aiming to make it big and showcase their skills, and determination on the big stage.
