Swapnil Kusale secures yet another bronze for India at the Paris Olympics

On Thursday, August 1, Swapnil won India’s third medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 28-year-old secured a bronze in the 50m rifle 3 positions men's event, with a final score of 451.4. He demonstrated remarkable skill and resilience throughout the competition.

This was India's third medal in shooting. Manu Bhaker won the first in the 10m air pistol event and teamed up with Sarabjot Singh for the second in the mixed team event of the same discipline. Both of these were bronze medals as well.

By the end of the kneeling and prone stages, Kusale was in fifth place with a score of 310.1. However, he showed impressive consistency in the crucial standing position phase, maintaining a top-four position and ultimately finishing with a bronze medal.

The previous instance of an Indian shooter reaching the Olympic finals in the 50m rifle category was back in the 2012 London Games. Joydeep Karmakar got fourth place in the 50m rifle-prone event which is not part of the ongoing Summer Games.
