The youngest World Cup champion paddler Miu Hirano from Japan is all set to lock horns with the ace Indian paddler Manika Batra in the Round of 16 contest at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Wednesday, July 31.
The women’s singles title winner in WTT Contender Zagreb 2023 and Otocec 2022, Miu Hirano propelled the Japanese women’s team to a silver medal victory at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. However, she wasn’t part of the individual event then.
This will be the first time she will be taking part in an individual event in women’s singles at the Summer Games. At Paris 2024, she defeated Giorgia Piccolin from Italy in the Round of 64 contest by 4-0. Later, she stunned Hong Kong's Chengzhu Zhu by 4-0 in Round of 32 to make it to the Round of 16 encounter.
