Stakes, however, will be higher as they return for the Final and knockout stages, respectively, on Sunday in a bid to open India’s account at the sporting extravaganza.

But before we take a look at the medal hopes from Day 2 of the Paris Olympics, let’s quickly glance over all the sporting action that Indian fans can catch from the French capital on the day:

Paris 2024 Olympics India Day 2 Medal Prediction

Deepika Kumari is playing in her fourth Olympics.
Deepika Kumari is playing in her fourth Olympics.

Manu Bhaker was sensational in the Women’s 10 m Air Pistol, finishing at No. 3 behind Veronika Major and Oh Ye Jin. Major, a recent World Championships silver medallist, Jin and her compatriot Kim Ye-ji as well as a couple of top Chinese shooters crowd the field.

Things will not come easy, but Bhaker has gained a lot of experience since being at this stage the last time around. Her composed finish to the qualification rounds inspires hope of her finding a spot on the podium at Paris 2024 Olympics.

Similarly, the prospect of the archers also looks great. The team has a collective ranking of No. 4, which means they will start the campaign in the quarterfinals directly.

A win over either France or the Netherlands will put them one more away from a medal. While they are likely to run into Korea in the semifinals, the chances of landing a medal — whatever the colour may be — are higher than ever.
