World Championships 2019 and 2022 gold medallist Grenadian javelin thrower Anderson Peters is all set to pose a big threat to Neeraj Chopra in the men’s javelin throw event final at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Thursday, August 8.
In the overall rankings of the qualification round, Anderson secured the second spot with a throw of 88.63m, settling just behind Neeraj Chopra, who bagged a throw of 89.34m to end on top.
Interestingly, Anderson achieved his personal best and National Record of 93.07m at the Doha Diamond League in 2022 to secure the gold medal. His second best of 90.54m came twice at the Stockholm Diamond League and World Athletics Championships in 2022.
On the other hand, the reigning Olympic champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra from India is all set to be a hot-favorite to defend his gold medal at Stade de France in the grand finale.
Chopra achieved his personal best throw of 89.94m at the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022 and would be aiming to surpass the 90m barrier in the final.
