European U23 Championships bronze medalist javelin thrower from Moldova, Andrian Mardare, will be up against reigning Olympic champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra in the grand finale of the men's javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Thursday, August 8.
Mardare has his personal best of 84.54 m recorded at the Championships of the Small States of Europe in 2021 in San Marino. At the qualification round of the Paris Olympics 2024, he secured his season-best throw and his second personal best throw of 84.13m to finish at the fifth rank in Group B.
In the overall rankings, his 84.13m throw came at the ninth rank, with eight other throwers putting up better efforts in the qualifying round.
On the other hand, Neeraj Chopra secured an impressive throw of 89.34m, his season best, to top the overall rankings in the qualifying round.
The legendary Indian javelin thrower achieved his personal best throw of 89.94m at the Stockholm Diamond League in 2022. He would be confident enough to surpass the 90m mark, achieving his new personal best in the final.
