The Paris 2024 Olympics organizers have taken action following the recent criticism surrounding food and transportation at the Olympic Village. The complaints were raised by athletes competing at the event and were primarily to do with the food served at the Games.

Several of the delegations in Paris had raised issues regarding the quality and quantity of the food being served. One of the reasons behind it was the rationing of eggs during breakfast at the Olympic Village.

In response, the organizers have accepted facing logistical issues and stated they are committed to resolving the situation. In a recent press conference, Paris 2024 CEO Etienne Thoboise addressed the issue.

"Regarding the food we've had to make some adjustments, which is normal in operations that size,” Etienne Thobois said, adding, "There has been a reinforcement in animal proteins with 700 kilos of eggs and a ton of meat (available) to meet the demands of the athletes, who we place at the heart of the Paris 2024 experience."

Catering firm Sodexo has the responsibility of providing an estimated 40,000 meals/per day to 15,000 athletes residing in the Paris Olympic Village.

A mixed response to the Olympic Village experience across delegations so far

Some delegations in Paris have already raised concerns and expressed their disappointment with the logistics at the quadrennial event while others have come off as slightly more accommodating.

One of the contingents to have expressed discontentment is the South Korean swimming team. Six of the South Korean swimmers left the Olympic Village recently to stay at a hotel near the competition venue.

This came on the back of two of the swimmers, Hwang Sun-woo and Kim Woo-min, complaining about a long commute in hot buses.

On the other hand, the 460-member Australian delegation came prepared with their own supplies. They brought with them over three tons of tuna, around 10,000 muesli bars and 2,400 meat pies. The delegation also carried three baristas along to make them coffee during the Games. The Australians have stated that they are happy with their Olympic Village experience.
