Indian golfer Diksha Dagar, who has qualified for the Paris Olympics 2024, will miss the Swiss Ladies Open 2024 at Golfpark Holzhausern in Switzerland, scheduled from June 28 to 30. Dagar, along with Pranavi Urs, the top two Indian women golfers on the Ladies European Tour (LET) this season, has decided to take a break this week.
Dagar shared that she had been dealing with a fever and a stiff neck while competing in the Czech Ladies Open, prompting her decision to rest. She took this opportunity to visit Paris and familiarize herself with Le National, the venue for the Paris Olympics golf competition.
Having secured her Olympic spot by finishing 41st in the Road to Paris rankings, the 23-year-old will make her second appearance at the Summer Olympics. Notably, Diksha Dagar is the only golfer to have competed in both the Olympics and the Deaflympics, where she has won a silver and a bronze medal.
Tvesa Malik to be among the 5 golfers at the Swiss Ladies Open 2024
In the absence of Diksha Dagar and Pranavi Urs, Tvesa Malik will spearhead the Indian challenge at the Swiss Ladies Open 2024. Tvesa, who was the top-performing Indian at last week’s Czech Ladies Open, will be joined by Amandeep Drall, Vani Kapoor, Ridhima Dilawari, and Seher Atwal.
Tvesa has regained her form after missing the event last year. She feels optimistic about the upcoming tournament following strong performances in the Dormy Open, where she finished T10, and the Italian Open and Czech Ladies Open, where she finished T25.
Currently ranked 76th on the merit list, the 29-year-old aims to maintain her position within the top 80 to ensure participation next year.
Meanwhile, Vani Kapoor has participated in a few events this season without securing a top-10 finish, while Amandeep Drall and Ridhima Dilawari have made limited appearances. Seher Atwal will be making her first start on the LET this season.
