Paris Olympics 2024 Indian Wrestling Squad: Complete list of wrestlers in the Indian contingent ft. Vinesh Phogat and Aman Sehrawat

The Indian wrestling contingent for the Paris Olympics 2024 features a mix of seasoned wrestlers and young talent. A total of six wrestlers will represent India at the Summer Olympics in Paris, with five female wrestlers and only one male wrestler, Aman Sehrawat, on the team.

The women's team boasts an impressive lineup, including Vinesh Phogat, Anshu Malik, Nisha Dahiya, Reetika Hooda and Antim Panghal. Phogat, a two-time Olympian and a two-time World Championships bronze medalist, has moved down to the 50 kg category, while Anshu Malik, a 2021 World Championships silver medalist, will compete in the 57 kg category.

Nisha Dahiya, an Asian silver medalist, will wrestle in the 68 kg category, and Reetika Hooda, a World under-23 champion, will compete in the 76 kg category.

For the first time, seedings have been incorporated into Olympic wrestling events. Only two wrestlers from the Indian wrestling team, Antim Panghal and Aman Sehrawat, have been seeded; others will be picked at random into brackets before the Paris Olympics in 2024.

World Championships bronze medalist Antim Panghal has been seeded fourth in the 53 kg category. She has a favorable draw for herself and thus has a great chance of moving ahead to the medal match.

Meanwhile, Aman Sehrawat, the sole male wrestler in the Indian wrestling contingent, will compete in the 57 kg category and has been seeded sixth. He faces a challenging draw with the likes of some world champions. However, his experience winning an Asian Games bronze medal will be invaluable.

Notably, top Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia did not make the team for the qualifiers, while Tokyo 2020 Olympian Deepak Punia, who finished fifth, missed out on a quota in the men's 86 kg category in Istanbul.

The wrestling events at the Paris Olympics 2024 will take place from August 5 to 11 at Grand Palais Éphémère in Champ de Mars.
