The Paris Olympics 2024 men’s Shot Put Qualification will be held at the Stade de France on Friday, August 2. Tajinderpal Singh Toor is the lone Indian competing in the event.

A total of 31 athletes will partake in the men’s shot put event, divided into two groups. Group A has 16 players while Group B comprises 15 athletes. Tajinderpal Singh is part of Group A which has the World No. 1 shot putter Ryan Crouser from the USA.

The qualification standard is set at 21.35 meters. At least, the top 12 athletes will qualify for the final round. Notably, Tajinderpal Singh is a two-time Asian champion and an Asian Games gold medalist.

Interestingly, Group B also has strong contenders including World No. 2 Joe Kovacs from the USA, World No. 4 Tom Walsh from New Zealand, and World No. 5 Payton Otterdahl from the USA.

Men's Shot Put Qualification Prediction

Tajinderpal Singh Toor will face a stiff challenge from other players in the qualification. World No. 1 shot putter from the USA, Ryan Crouser has a personal best of 23.56 and will start the qualification as a strong gold medal contender.

World No. 3 shot putter Leonardo Fabbri from Italy (22.95), World No. 6 Jacko Gill from New Zealand (22.12) and World No. 9 Filip Mihaljevin from Croatia (21.94) are three other medal contenders.

With the qualification standard set at 21.35m and at least 12 best athletes advancing to the final, we can expect Tajinderpal Singh Toor to qualify as he has a personal best of 21.77m.

Men's Shot Put Qualification will be telecast live in India on Sports 18 channels and the live streaming will be available on Jio Cinema. The contest will start at 11.40pm IST on Friday, August 2.
