In Men's Dighy at Marseille Marina - Corniche, Indian sailor Vishnu Saravanan settled for the 18th rank with 114 points after the conclusion of Race 8 of the opening series. The top 10 boats at the end of Race 8 will progress to the medal race.

The race started on August 1 and concluded on August 5 with a total of eight races scheduled. Vishnu finished Race 1 at the 10th rank while he finished the second rank at the 34th rank. In Race 3 and Race 4, he finished at the 20th and 19th spots, respectively.

Moving to Race 5 and Race 6, he secured the 21st and 13th ranks, respectively. In Race 7 and Race 8, he settled for the seventh and 24th ranks, respectively, to settle for 114 points at the eventual 18th rank.

It’s worth noting that in Olympic sailing, a low-point scoring system is followed with the winner of each race being awarded one point while the second-placed boat will receive two points.

Australia's Matt Wearn with 38 net points secured the top spot while Cyprus sailor Pavlos Kontides bagged the second rank with 52 net points. Peru sailor Stefano Peschiera clinched the third position with 62 points.

Michael Beckett from Great Britain, Hermann Tomasgaard from Norway, Hungary's Jonathan Vadnai, and Thomas Saunders from New Zealand settled for the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh ranks, respectively.

Clemente Seguel Lacamara from Chile, Brandon Lorenzo Chiavarini from Italy, and Finn Lynch from Ireland finished with eighth, ninth, and 10th ranks, respectively, to qualify for the medal race.

Vishnu Saravanan is one of the two Indian sailors to compete at Paris Olympics 2024

Vishnu Saravanan and Nethra Kumanan were the two Indian sailors who competed at the Paris Olympics 2024. Nethra settled for the 21st rank in the Women's Dinghy event with 155 net points, failing to make the cut for the medal race.
