Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has extended his hearty best wishes to Indian sportspersons who are set to take part in the Paris 2024 Olympics. The PM also announced a new hashtag, #CHEER4BHARAT, for fans to show their support to the Indian athletes.

Speaking on his monthly radio broadcast, 'Mann ki Baat', PM Modi mentioned that Indian players had begun preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympics soon after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He also noted that the Indian athletes bound for Paris have participated in around 900 tournaments in this period.

"By this time next month, the Paris Olympics would have started. I am sure that all of you are also waiting to cheer for the Indian players in the Olympic Games. I wish the Indian contingent all the best for the Olympic Games," the Indian PM said.
"Since the Tokyo Olympics, our athletes have been wholeheartedly preparing for the Paris Olympics. If we put all the players together, then all of them have participated in about 900 international competitions. This is a very big number. This time, our hashtag is #CHEER4BHARAT. We have to cheer for our players through this hashtag," he continued.

Prime Minister Modi is known for directly interacting with athletes and sportspersons on several occasions. He had met a large number of Indian athletes who participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics at his residence at a well-organized event following that edition of the Summer Games.

Interestingly, the PM also interacted with Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli on Sunday, following the team's win in the ICC T20 World Cup.

Indian contingent to have special facilities at Paris 2024 Olympics

President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and sprinting legend PT Usha made some notable announcements on Sunday regarding arrangements for Indian athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Usha was speaking at a special function in New Delhi to unveil the kit of the Indian contingent for the Paris Games. As per the IOA president, there would be a dedicated medical center for the Indian players in the athletes village.

It was earlier announced that Indian players would have Indian food provided to them during the Games. Now, apart from the food and the medical facility, there would be a 'Home away from home' for the players, which will be set up by Reliance Foundation.

With so much care being taken to ensure the comfort of the players, fans can be optimistic about the Indian contingent living up to their expectations.
