Paris 2024 Olympics silver medalist Neeraj Chopra has assured fans that he will work harder and aim to win the gold medal at the next Olympics. He finished second in the men's javelin throw event at Stade de France with his second throw covering a distance of 89.45m. Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem bagged the gold medal with a throw of 92.97m.
Three years ago, Neeraj scripted history by becoming the first Indian to win an Olympic gold medal in athletics. He won the gold medal with a throw of 87.58m.
Although Neeraj performed better than the Tokyo Olympics in Paris 2024, he could not win the gold medal this time.
Taking to Instagram after winning the silver medal, Neeraj wrote:
"Feels great to win another medal for India in the Olympic Games. This time our National Anthem did not play in Paris, but I will work hard for that moment now. 💪Very proud to be on the podium for India once again at the Olympic Games. Thank you for the love and support! Jai Hind."
Neeraj's post has received enormous love from fans on Instagram. Over 900,000 fans have liked the post within six hours, with the pictures also attracting more than 15,000 comments.
Can Neeraj Chopra become a three-time Olympic medalist in Los Angeles?
The next Summer Olympics will happen in Los Angeles in 2028. All eyes will be on Neeraj Chopra again as he will likely represent India in the men's javelin throw event.
Neeraj Chopra joined Norman Pritchard, Sushil Kumar, PV Sindhu, and Manu Bhaker in an elite club of Indian individual athletes to have won multiple Olympic medals.
If Neeraj finishes on the podium again in Los Angeles, he may become the first Indian to win three Olympic medals in individual events. It will be interesting to see if Neeraj can continue in the same vein four years later.
