Legendary off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and boxer Vikas Krishan Yadav swapped their sport for a day in an episode of Jio Cinema’s ‘When Athletes Pick Up Another Sport.’

With the Paris Olympics 2024 fever intensifying, the former India cricketer donned boxing gloves, while Vikas Yadav put up a show with a cricket bat.

After Vikas' intense lesson in counter-attacking, Harbhajan explained how he understood boxing was not just about throwing punches, saying:

“Today, I realized that boxing is a highly scientific sport. It’s not just about throwing punches – there’s a lot of strategy and thinking involved. It’s just like chess - you must strategically choose your punches and simultaneously defend yourself.”

Vikas also tested Harbhajan Singh’s reflexes, putting up a challenge in front of him to catch both boxing pads in rapid succession. Harbhajan successfully caught the pads 14 out of 20 times, impressing Vikas.

“I know that after ten attempts, people tend to get tired and miss the simplest of catches, but he has done a lot better than some of our Indian boxers,” Vikas stated.

Vikas Krishan Yadav hits two sixes off an over against Harbhajan Singh

Moving forward, Bhajji challenged the boxer to six-hitting. Vikas took up the challenge well as he smacked two sixes in an over.

“This is the first time I've applauded a batter hitting my deliveries for sixes, because we are not competing but celebrating each other. It was amazing to see his ‘never die’ attitude – even though it wasn’t his game, he still took on the challenge. Champions like these can never lose,” Bhajji added.

Harbhajan Singh, the two-time World Cup winner, picked up 711 wickets in 367 matches for India. He played his last international game against the UAE in March 2016.

On the other hand, Vikas Krishan Yadav became the second Indian male boxer after Olympic bronze medallist Vijender Singh to play in three Summer Games.
