After the conclusion of the Paris Olympics 2024, the Games will move to the Winter Olympics, scheduled to be held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in Italy from February 6-22, 2026.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) received bids from Italy and Sweden. However, the Italian cities' joint bid beat another joint bid from Swedish cities Stockholm and Are by 47-34 votes at the IOC’s 134th Session in Lausanne, Switzerland, in June 2019.
This will be the fourth time the Olympic Games are hosted in Italy, the previous editions being the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo, and the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome.
