A total of 288 wrestlers are expected to compete across 18 weight divisions at the Paris Olympics 2024. Wrestling has been part of all modern Summer Games except in Paris in 1900. Interestingly, nine countries have double-digit wrestling quotas at this edition of the Games.

Wrestling competitions at the Paris Olympics 2024 will occur from August 5 to 11 at Grand Palais Éphémère in Champ de Mars in Paris. Statistically speaking, Europe will field 109 wrestlers, the most by any continent at Paris 2024.

Lithuania, Algeria, New Zealand, and Uzbekistan are the four nations making their debut at the Olympics in Women’s Wrestling events. On the other hand, Honduras is fielding its first-ever Greco-Roman wrestler at the Games. Meanwhile, the Dominican Republic is fielding its first-ever Freestyle wrestler at the Summer Games.

#10 Mongolia and Ukraine - 9 Quotas each

Mongolian Wrestling Federation will field a total of nine wrestlers at Paris 2024 - Three wrestlers in freestyle, and six in women’s wrestling. Two wrestlers qualified for the Games via the World Championships 2024 in Belgrade, Serbia.

Three wrestlers made the cut via the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in 2023. On the other hand, four other wrestlers qualified through the World Qualification Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey in 2024.

The Wrestling Federation of Kyrgyzstan secured 10 quotas for the Paris Olympics 2024 - Three in freestyle, three in women's, and four in Greco-Roman.

Four wrestlers made the cut for the Games after their top-five finishes at the World Championships 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia.

Four more wrestlers qualified for the Summer Games after their exceptional performances at the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament 2023 in Bishkek. The remaining two wrestlers secured their quotas at the World Qualification Tournament 2024 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Four wrestlers made the cut for Paris 2024 after their top-five finishes at the World Championships 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia. Other six wrestlers qualified through the Pan American Olympic Qualification Tournament 2024 in Acapulco, Mexico.

While six wrestlers secured their Paris 2024 quotas after their top five results through the World Championships 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia, three other wrestlers made the cut from the European Qualification Tournament 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Moreover, two wrestlers qualified for the Games through the World Qualification Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey in 2024.

Egyptian Wrestling Federation has secured 11 quotas in wrestling for the Paris 2024 Olympics - Four in men’s freestyle, One in women’s, and six in Greco-Roman.

While Abdellatif Mohamed was the first to secure the quota by virtue of top five results at the World Championships 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia, nine other wrestlers made the cut at the African and Oceania Olympic Qualification Tournament in Alexandria, Egypt in 2024.

One more wrestler qualified for Paris 2024 through the World Qualification Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Wrestling Federation is all set to field a total of 11 wrestlers at the Paris Olympics 2024, including five in men’s freestyle and six in Greco-Roman.

Moving into the details, seven Iranian wrestlers made the cut for the Games on the virtue of the top five results through the World Championships 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia.

On the other hand, four wrestlers qualified for the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament 2024 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

Three Azerbaijan wrestlers qualified for the Games by top five results through the World Championships 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia. Five other wrestlers made the cut for the Games through the European Qualification Tournament 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

10 Japanese wrestlers made the cut for the Games after good performances at the World Championships 2023 in Belgrade, Serbia. Later, three more wrestlers qualified for the Paris 2024 Games via the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament 2024 in Bishkek.

Whopping 16 wrestlers have qualified for the USA out of 288 athletes who will compete in wrestling at the Paris Olympics 2024, including six places in freestyle, six in women’s events, and four in the Greco-Roman event.

Notably, the USA wrestlers secured nine wrestling medals at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, the most they had won in wrestling since the 1984 Games. USA wrestlers will be aiming to at least match, if not exceed, the medal tally achieved in Tokyo.

Rio 2016 gold medallist and Tokyo 2020 silver medallist wrestler Kyle Snyder is also part of the contingent. Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist wrestler Kyle Dake will take part in men’s freestyle in the 74 kg division.
