PV Sindhu's first opponent at the Paris Olympics will be Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq. The Maldivian badminton player is one of the best to emerge from her country, and will be hoping to give Sindhu a run for her money.

Razzaq is currently ranked 111th in the world in the women's singles event, after a 2024 that has seen her make first round exits at the Li Ning Sri Lanka International Challenge, the Li Ning Sri Lanka International Series, and the Uganda International Challenge. The shuttler also participated at the Badminton Asia Championships, where she failed to make it past her group stage matches.

For Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq, this appearance at the Paris Olympics marks the second time she's made it to the Games, making her the first shuttler from Maldives to achieve the feat. Back in Tokyo, she became the first female badminton player form her country to compete at the Olympics, and was honored as a flag bearer.

Her performance in Tokyo saw her lose both her group stage matches and fail to make it through to the elimination rounds.

While Razzaq is participating in the singles events at the Paris Olympics, she holds a stronger resume as a doubles player. She is currently ranked 99th in the world in the women's doubles alongside her sister Aminath, and 107th in the mixed doubles alongside Hussein Shaheed.

Outside of the Olympics, Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq has appeared at both the 2018 and 2022 Asian Games, and played the semifinals of the Sydney International and Apacs Kazakhstan International series in 2023. She was the winner of the women's and mixed doubles event at the Pakistan International Series in 2019.

Paris Olympics 2024: Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq to take on Kristin Kuuba for second group stage match

After playing PV Sindhu in her opening round at the Paris Olympics, Fathimath Nabaaha Abdul Razzaq will be back in action on the court of La Chapelle Arena as she takes on Estonia's Kristin Kuuba for her second group stage match.

Kuuba is currently ranked 73rd in the world, but has been as high as 43. While Razzaq will no doubt be hoping to have a better outing in Paris than she did in Tokyo, an appearance in the group stage match looks unlikely for the Maldivian.
