Indian paddlers crashed out of the Japan Open Super Series as both Achanta Sharath Kamal and Soumyajit Ghosh bowed out of the men’s singles on Saturday.

Though Sharath Kamal managed to enter the pre-quarterfinals beating Lee Chia Sheng of Chinese Taipei 4-2, he went down to World No.9 and second-seeded Wang Liquin of China in straight games. He lost 5-11, 7-11, 3-11, 2-11 in less than 20 minutes.

Earlier, Ghosh lost in the Round of 32 to Chinese Taipei’s Chen Chien-An 1-4. The Taipei paddler, ranked 28 in the world, beat the Indian 9-11, 11-3, 14-12, 11-4, 11-4.

The doubles pair of Soumyajit Ghosh and Harmeet Desai failed to progress beyond the quarterfinal stage as the duo lost to Japanese pair Jin Ueda and Maharu Yoshimura 6-11, 6-11, 9-11.
