After an incredible show in the team events of the Asian Table Tennis Championships, the Indian contingent is now in the hunt for individual glory. In action today were all of the nation's best paddlers, as they put on one spellbinding performance after the other in Kazakhstan.
On the singles end of things, Manush Shah, Manav Thakkar, and Harmeet Desai all made it through to the round of 32, while Sharath Kamal and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran were shown the door early at the Asian Table Tennis Championships. Thakkar was one of the most impressive Indians in action today, clawing his way back into the match from two games down to beat Jo Kum Gwang in his round of 64 encounter.
In the women's singles category, Ayhika Mukherjee and Diya Chitale looked promising in their early matches, but failed to make it into the pre-quarters. Sreeja Akula was dealt a similar fate at the hands of China's Kuai Man, while Manika Batra was able to persevere and make it through to the round of 16.
Meanwhile, the doubles events at the Asian Table Tennis Championships saw the sibling duo of Ayhika and Sutirtha Mukherjee make their way into the women's doubles quarterfinals, while the Indian men failed to make it past their round of 16 opponents.
