India's campaign at the China Smash 2024, currently taking place at the Shijingshan Shougang Park, concluded on Day 8 (Thursday, October 3). The men's doubles pair of Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah were the last remaining Indian competitors in the tournament. They faced the Chinese duo of Liang Jingkun and Wang Chuqin in the men's doubles quarterfinals.
The Chinese pair dominated the opening two games, winning 11-5 and 11-2, putting Manav and Manush on the backfoot. However, the Indian duo fought back impressively, taking the third game 11-8 in a do-or-die situation. Despite this resurgence, the Chinese pair held their nerve and won the fourth game 11-7, securing a 3-1 victory overall with a scoreline of 11-5, 11-2, 8-11, and 11-7.
With this defeat, India's campaign at the China Smash 2024 came to an end. A total of 13 Indian paddlers competed in various categories, with the quarterfinal finish by Manav and Manush being the standout performance. Their effort earned them a combined prize money of 3500 USD and 350 ITTF Table Tennis World Ranking Points.
