On Saturday, August 31, Bengaluru Smashers and Ahmedabad SG Pipers locked horns in the 14th tie of the Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) 2024 while Goa Challengers and Chennai Lions met in the following game.

Bengaluru Smashers defeated Ahmedabad SG Pipers 9-6 in a closely contested tie. Despite early losses by Anthony Amalraj, Manika Batra, and the mixed doubles pair of Batra and Alvaro Robles, Bengaluru bounced back. Robles secured a crucial 3-0 win over Manush Shah, and Lily Zhang sealed the victory with a commanding 3-0 win against Krittwika Sinha Roy.

In the 15th tie, Goa Challengers overcame Chennai Lions 9-6. Although Chennai's star, Achanta Sharath Kamal and Sakura Mori won their singles matches by 2-1, Goa turned the tide with Yangzi Liu and Harmeet Desai's dominant mixed doubles with a scoreline of 3-0. Harmeet then won his singles match against Jules Rolland 2-1, and Yashaswini Ghorpade closed out the tie with a 2-1 victory over Mouma Das, ensuring a win for the Challengers.

On that note, let’s take a look at how the points table shapes up after the Bengaluru Smashers and Goa Challengers’s victory.

Smashers, who are still unbeaten, moved from second position to first with 41 points after registering their fourth consecutive win against Ahmedabad SG Pipers. Meanwhile, Dabang Delhi T.T.C slipped to second with 33 points from two wins.

SG Pipers ascended from fourth to third, having claimed 30 points from 20 games while U Mumba TT dropped to fourth with 29 points from as many games.

Meanwhile, Challengers retained their fifth spot with 29 points, despite a 9-6 win over Lions. The Lions moved from seventh to sixth, winning nine matches and earning 25 points from as many games.

Jaipur Patriots slipped to seventh and Puneri Paltan Table Tennis retained their eighth spot with 19 points each. However, Patriots have won six matches while the Paltan have won five.
