After falling short in his first attempt to win 10 Halle titles following a three-set defeat to Borna Coric in the 2018 final, Federer was in no mood for another reverse when he faced David Goffin in his 13th Halle final in 2019.

The Swiss maestro beat Goffin in straight sets to become the first player to win 10 Halle titles, in the process also becoming the first player to win 10 titles at a grasscourt tournament. Federer also possesses the next best haul of grasscourt titles at a tournament (8 at Wimbledon).

Federer lifts his 10th title in Basel

Federer arrived at his hometown tournament of Basel in 2019 following a quarterfinal defeat to Sascha Zverev in the Shanghai quarterfinals.

Either side of a quarterfinal walkover over his compatriot and good friend Stanislas Wawrinka, Federer notched up a trio of straight-sets wins to become the first player to reach 10 consecutive finals at a tournament.

In the title match, his 15th in Basel (the most by any player at a tournament), Federer beat young Australian Alex De Minaur in straight sets to triumph for the 10th time at his hometown tournament.

In the process, Federer became the first player to win 10 titles at a hardcourt tournament and also the first to win 10 titles at a tournament on two different surfaces (also Halle - grass).
