The 2019 Australian Open gets underway in Melbourne tomorrow with former champions Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Marin Cilic, Maria Sharapova, Angelique Kerber, Caroline Wozniacki etc all scheduled to play. The matches across all the 25 courts begin at 11 AM AEDT (5:30 AM IST) and a total of over 60 matches are scheduled to take place.
In the first match at the Rod Laver Arena, Russia's Maria Sharapova will take on Harriet Dart after which 2009 Men's Singles champion Rafael Nadal will get his 2019 campaign underway against local favourite and wildcard James Duckworth. The last match of the day session will see second seed Kerber taking on Polona Hercog.
The night session will get underway with defending Women's Singles champion Wozniacki taking on Alison Van Uytvanck and the final match of the day on Rod Laver Arena will see the six-time champion and two-time defending champion at Melbourne Park, Federer getting his campaign underway against Denis Istomin.
The Aussie duo of Alex de Minaur and Benard Tomic will face Pedro Sousa and Marin Cilic respectively at the Margaret Court Arena. Brit Andy Murray, who teased his retirement from the sport after the completion of Australian Open, could be playing the final match of his career against Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut at Melbourne Arena and the match will not start before 6 PM AEDT.
India's Prajnesh Gunneswaran, who qualified for his first-ever Grand Slam tournament, will have a tough task in his hands when he takes on American Francis Tiafoe in the second match on Court 15.
