2024 Shanghai Masters: Wu Yibing vs Sumit Nagal preview, prediction, and where to watch

India's best-ranked tennis player Sumit Nagal is all set to become the first Indian since Somdev Devvarman in 2011 to compete in the Shanghai Masters main draw. The ATP Shanghai Masters 1000 event, Asia's only Masters campaign, is all set to be played on outdoor hard courts in Shanghai, China.

The competition will be the third ATP Masters 1000 main-draw event for Nagal this year, with Indian Wells and Monte Carlo being the previous two events. He was recently part of the China Open in September 2024, losing to Pavel Kotov of Russia in the qualifying round by 2-6, 6-7 (5-7).

On the other hand, China's Yibing Wu's last outing was at the Hangzhou Open. He retired mid-way due to an injury against Hong Kong’s Coleman Wong in the Round-of-32 contest.

Wu is coming into this contest on the back of a loss to Coleman Wong in the Round-of-32 contest at the Hangzhou Open. Sumit, on the other hand, is entering after being eliminated from the qualifying round at the China Open 2024 against World No. 63 Pavel Kotov.

Currently, Sumit Nagal is ranked World No. 83 in the ATP singles rankings, while Wu Yibing is ranked World No. 564. We expect Sumit Nagal to come out on top to qualify for Round of 64.
