Venus Williams

2018 US Open - Day 5
Venus Williams beat more than one champion before succumbing to her sister Serena

Surprised to see this name on the list? You shouldn't be. I'll tell you why. Because the 38-year old seven-time Grand Slam champion is not wearing out with age. Venus, who stunned everyone by reaching last year's Australian Open final before going down to her sister, turned many heads in this year's US Open Championships too.

Up against two-time Grand Slam winner Svetlana Kuznetsova in the first round, Venus amazed her die-hard fans with her athleticism and endurance. Surviving a tough three-setter in the first round, Venus was again up against a class player - this year's Wimbledon quarter-finalist Camila Giorgi.

While Venus appeared invincible against Giorgi, she faced arguably her toughest opponent - sister Serena - in the third round. She wasn't third time lucky, but did remarkably well to fight against three top-of-the-league opponents in the first three rounds.
